Operates and directs Piedmont Newnan Hospital's risk management activities. Reviews and handles claims made against the facility, interacting with legal counsel, claims adjustors, and insurance companies. Administers the day to day activities of the risk management program, analyzing risk data, conducting risk management educational programs, insuring compliance with Joint Commission and other accrediting and regulatory agencies, to enhance patient safety and customer satisfaction. Responsible for gathering and analyzing data and preparing reports to management and outside agencies; responsible for keeping management advised of developments in professional liability, entailing ongoing review of applicable literature; and may recommend budget items to management. Receives and evaluates complaints and claims related to professional and general liability and transmits that information to the appropriate department manager, administrative representative, and the Corporate Director of Risk and Insurance Services as appropriate; participates in responding to complaints, grievances or claims to obtain information and facilitate resolution as soon as practicable. Knowledge of and familiarity with the facility's property and casualty insurance program; supports risk financing methodologies to address current or anticipated exposures. Organizes and manages facility-wide orientation and educational programs on risk management and related subjects. Bachelor's Degree from a recognized college or university in Health Care Administration, Business Administration, Risk Management, or a closely related field is required. Five years of experience in healthcare or healthcare risk management. ARM and/or CPHRM preferred. |
